Maintenance of metal fencing

Modern fences and gates are made of high quality galvanized steel, paint coating additionally secured. Fencing systems of leading manufacturers are performed in a rather complicated production process by using modern technology of protecting steel against corrosion.

The first step is the chemical cleaning structural elements fence. Thus prepared steel is then immersed in a bath of liquid zinc. Thus prepared fence is resistant to high and low temperatures and UV radiation, and the zinc layer acts in such a way that slows more rapidly corroding steel corrosion itself.

Rustproofing elements are then powder coated to one of the colors from the RAL, which is an additional coating protects against external influences.

The finest producers of metal fences provide a long-standing resistance to corrosion of its products, providing even 10-year warranty.

This period can be extended if a regular wall will be painted our aqueous emulsion of silicone oil and turpentine addition of solvent, which has the characteristics of repelling dust and water.

However, no matter how durable and good quality fence chose to fence our property and how we care about them, there comes a moment when we must give up our fence maintenance.

Proper surface preparation

Maintenance of our metal fence should start by removing the coating in those areas where they have already been destroyed, and so from scratching or grinding down of chipping, cracking and peeling paint. For this, we can use metal brushes, sandpaper (first coarse, then fine), or to use for this grinder. You can also hire a specialist and apply the so-called. blasting through the air stream.

After mechanical cleaning the surface must be thoroughly degreased using suitable solvents. You can also use specially designed spray or foam.

Painting the fence

After appropriate preparation of the substrate comes time to paint. The first step is to prevent further destructive effects of corrosion. We will use primer or undercoat corrosion. In some cases, priming you need to perform twice. Only now comes the time to impose proper paint coating. For painting we use one of the many available on the market paints for metal – there are only limited by our ability to wealth portfolio.

It is worth mentioning that the market paints are also available for use directly on rust – their use will save us the need for careful preparation of the substrate.

Only after all of the above work will be able to enjoy newly renovated and well-groomed eye fence. But do not forget about the constant monitoring of the state of our fence and react quickly to new damage would also avoid the occurrence of so-called “deep corrosion”.
